Beres Hammond

Born: Hugh Beresford Hammond August 28, 1955,
Annotto Bay, Saint Mary, Jamaica.

As the ninth of ten children , Hammond grew up listening to American music , Jazz ,etc. He was also influenced by the native music of ska and rocksteady.

Hammond 1972 to 1973, record his first recording   Ellis’ “Wanderer”. Beres joined the band, Zap Pow, in 1978.  “Beres completed his first Soul Reggae project in 1976 called the “One Step Ahead”

He recorded the Have a Nice Weekend album and the duet “How Can We Ease the Pain” with Maxi Priest.
