Zumjay is one of the most popular dancehall DJs. Zumjay also toured Europe in 2004 and 2005 (the second year with fellow deejay Alozade), in addition to his success in Jamaica.

In Kingston, Jamaica, Stephens grew up in the Waterhouse district. He attended Kingston College and Rydel High School. He worked as an apprentice engineer at Donovan Germain’s Penthouse Studios after leaving school, and in 1998, he became a recording artist, selling his single “Courtney”, a tribute to cricketer Courtney Walsh, in 2000. In addition to “Shake it”, “Sticky” and “Dancing Team”, he released other successful singles.

Having married Aviesha Palmer in 2006, he moved to the United States in 2007 and joined the United States Army Reserves. He also enrolled in an Artnology degree at Borough of Manhattan Community College. He graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre in 2014.
