In 2002, Bunji tied with Iwer George to win Trinidad’s Soca Monarch/International Soca Monarch competition with “Down in the Ghetto”, 2004, he won the competition with “Warrior Cry,” while in 2005 he won the competition with “Blaze the Fire.” A member of the band, Shawn Noel (Da Ma$tamind), produced both songs. He placed second with “Clear De Road” in the 2009 International Soca Monarch, while his pregnant wife, Fay-Ann Lyons, won first with “Meet Super Blue.” She also won the Groovy Soca Monarch title with “Heavy T Bumpa.”
Grand Theft Auto IV’s soundtrack includes “Brrt” by Bunji Garlin.
Featuring Nigel Rojas on guitar, Garlin won the Soul Train Award for Best International Performance for “Differentology” in 2013. In August 2014, RCA Records and VP Records released an album of the same name.
Turn Up, his highest US chart placement to date, reached No. 3 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart in 2017.
